My friends, this is an important notice.

Remember how I get annoyed beyond belief by all those online services with POS-TOS (piece-of-shit terms of service)?  Like, orkut, LJmeme and so on?

Let me introduce a shiny new addition to the list: AOL Instant Messenger, a.k.a. AIM, which includes ICQ as well.

( Posted ) on Slashdot:

acaben writes AOL has posted new terms of service for AIM, that include the right for AOL to use anything and everything you send through AIM in any way they see fit, without informing you.  A sample passage: posting Content on an AIM Product, you grant AOL, its parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, assigns, agents and licensees the irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide right to reproduce, display, perform, distribute, adapt and promote this Content in any medium.  You waive any right to privacy.

The above quote of the AIM TOS is ( real ) -- look under the Contents You Post section.

You waive any right to privacy.  Yes, that's right.  You fucking waive any right to privacy!  And they have the audacity to say that in their TOS!

Proceed at your own risk.  I won't.  Don't expect to find me on AIM anymore.

Much props to vxjasonxv for bringing this into my attention.
