Bush attacks paper for jeopardizing national security ]

So basically he's asking, “Choose one, human right or national security?”  He should learn that privacy and security are in no way mutually exclusive.

“This is a highly classified program that is crucial to our national security. Its purpose is to detect and prevent terrorist attacks against the United States, our friends and allies. Yesterday the existence of this secret program was revealed in media reports, after being improperly provided to news organizations. As a result, our enemies have learned information they should not have, and the unauthorized disclosure of this effort damages our national security and puts our citizens at risk. Revealing classified information is illegal, alerts our enemies, and endangers our country,” he said.

Are you ready?

Bush then goes on to undermine his argument that disclosure of this program damages national security, by providing additional details about the program.

P.S. The NSA's website has had this information publically available for a while.

Ahhh, good old deflect-the-criticism. I'm not surprised he'd say this, though, given all of his other rhetoric.
At first, reading your hyperlink title gave me quite a chuckle, since it seemed quite believable that our dear president could honestly attack a piece of paper in the name of national security...

... until I realized that what was in the article is even STUPIDER than my humorous misunderstanding. >8^O

You know what?  The title was actually directly quoted off the CNN top page.  CNN has since changed it to something else, probably after realizing how stupid the title looked in so many ways.  XD
