[RawJournal] Dynamo -- a Generator spinoff

Ever wanted to change font sizes on your Generator theme?  Well, my Dynamo layout can do that for you. :D

In order to switch from Generator to Dynamo, follow these steps.  You need to do this only once.

  1. Go to the Advanced Customization - Your Layers page.

  2. Create a top-level layer of type Layout.

The new layer will appear in the Your Layers box, as a Child of layer 1: LiveJournal S2 Core, v1, with (none) name.

  3. Click the Edit button for the new layer.  An Edit layer source page will appear.

  4. Delete everything in the source code textbox.

  5. Copy and paste the Dynamo layout S2 source code in the textbox.

  6. Click Compile button (found on the right shoulder of the textbox) to compile the code.  The following result should be displayed:

    S2 Compiler Output at <current timestamp>
    No errors
  7. Go to Customize Journal page.

  8. Locate the current theme under the Step 2: Customize Layout list.  It is displayed on the Themes drop-down box.

  9. If the theme is (Layout Default), you aren't using a specific theme -- skip to step 17.

  10. Remember the theme name.

  11. Go to the Your Layers page.

  12. Create a layout-specific layer of type Theme and layout Dynamo.

The new layer will appear in the Your Layers box, as a Child of layer NNNN: Dynamo, with (none) name.

  13. Click the Edit button for the new layer.  An Edit layer source page will appear.

  14. Delete everything in the source code textbox.

  15. Copy and paste the the S2 source code for the theme into the textbox.  For the source code, open up a new window and go to Eugene's S2 repository, and locate the S2 source file for your current theme.  It should be named dynamo::<theme-name>.s2.  If you don't see it, let me know. :D

  16. Click Compile button (found on the right shoulder of the textbox) to compile the code.  The No errors result should be displayed.

  17. Go to the Your Layers page.

  18. See if you see an unnamed user child layer of the Generator layer.  If you don't see it, you probably haven't customized your style -- skip to step 25.

  19. Click the Edit button for that unnamed user layer.

  20. Open up a Notepad, and copy and paste the layer source code there.

  21. Go back to the Your Layers page.

  22. Create a User child layer of the Dynamo layout.

  23. Edit the new user layer, and copy paste the source code from the Notepad.

  24. Compile the layer.

  25. Go to the Advanced Customization - Your Styles page.

  26. Create a new style.  Pick a name you like for it.  The Edit Style page for the newly created style will appear.  If you get a style not found error instead, just reload the page (and answer OK if it complains about POSTDATA when you reload) -- it's a LJ bug, and it will eventually go away and the Edit Style page will appear.

  27. Select Dynamo layout and click Change.

  28. Select the theme you created before and click Change.  It'll be the only theme in the drop-down box anyways.

  29. Select the user layer you created before and click Change.  It'll also be the only user layer in the drop-down box.

  30. Click Save Changes.  You'll go back to Your Styles page.

  31. Open the numbered link for the new style just created, in a new window.  It will preview the style.  Currently, it should look almost identical to your current LJ layout.  When done, clsoe the preview window.

  32. Click the Use button for the new style to switch to the style.  You're all set!

In order to change the font size, click the Customize or Edit Customization button on the Customize Journal page to go to the customization page.  There will be new items under the Fonts section of the customization page for normal and small font sizes. :D
